Eating Disorders – pt.1 2022

Hey guys, so I decided to split this topic into two separate posts. My reason for doing so is that: it’s a complicated deep topic that takes longer to discuss, and I want one to be more relaxing. Part one is mainly resources and quick facts to judge the severity of this issue in our society, and in figure skating specifically. Part two goes deeper into that discussion with more facts, stats, and examples. If you personally struggle with an ED and can get triggered by the possible information presented by part 2, just read this one.

On the side their are some buttons… these are links to the resources I found most valuable and thought would aid you guys most. ANAD, or National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, explains “Eating disorders affect at least 9% of the population worldwide.

And 19% of the U.S. population, or 28.8 million Americans, will have an eating disorder in their lifetime.” (ANAD also offers, I believe free, eating disorder support groups and services). ED’s are a scary battle. If you’re questioning/ or think you might have one the first button might help you figure those thoughts out. The first is a quiz type screening tool. It’s anonymous and secure. So you can just get a better understanding of your eating habits and mentality, honestly, without feeling pressured to answer one way or another. The other two are simply informational and links I thought might help. A is more geared towards helping it’s direct viewer. While B is more geared towards people who have loved ones around them struggling with an ED. I hope these are helpful some way. Part two will be more of a discussion on these topics and more focused on figure skating in specific sense the sport struggles with this issue a lot.

Thank you for visiting my blog, even though this is a darker topic. I appreciate the support. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please let me know in the comment section bellow or email me through the contact form page in the menu.
